Food for Others Virginia

COVID-19 related closures have been hard for all of us, but their effects are especially devastating for food insecure families. Food for Others has been on the frontlines of this crisis, serving as a free grocery store for laid-off workers, children who relied on school meals, and working families who were already struggling to afford food. Since mid-March, we have been feeding three- to four- times more households than usual from our warehouse, our Annandale pop-up pantry, and at Neighborhood Sites throughout Northern Virginia.

None of this would be possible without support from members of the community like all of you at Nurture Studio. Thank you for donating $3,000.00 to Food for Others. While grocery store donations are low and food supply chains are disrupted, your contribution has allowed us to continue purchasing the food needed to feed families.

I have practiced yoga for several years at various studios with numerous different instructors. Pamela is a treasure within the Yoga community. She exudes a warmth of spirit that fills the room. I feel grounded and connected in her presence. Pamela’s sessions are well prepared and varied yet she spontaneously adapts to the needs of her students. Pamela thoughtfully ties each session to a reading of spiritual wisdom or poetry providing an experience that nourishes both body and soul.

Classes led by Pamela are a brilliant combination of strength, balance, stretching and mindfulness.  I have been practicing yoga with Pamela for more than 12 years and have observed her talents as an instructor continue to evolve.  I feel blessed to consider Pamela both a teacher and a friend!

It was Pamela who first introduced me to yoga, when I attended one of her classes at Westwood Country Club.  As I continued to attend her classes, I was inspired by her unique ability to transmit her own profound knowledge, inner peace and confidence to her students.  Although Pamela already is an overall wellness expert, she continues to expand her knowledge by attending countless seminars and workshops across the USA and beyond. In particular, the experiences gathered from her trip to India to learn from the worlds most renowned instructors has been life changing for her, and consequently, to her followers. Anyone who practices with her will be able to see that teaching is not only her gift, but also her passion.

Pamela has done a super job teaching me skills to help quite down migraines, calm down stress and learning to balance and walk confidently again. I no longer have bad days or days of depression. Everything Pamela taught me over the years was made simple and enjoyable. I truly love coming each week. The yoga she’s taught me has made a huge difference in my life, and I can’t thank her enough. A saying she said many years ago I try to live by: “You can choose to get out of bed & face the day or you can choose to stay in bed!”
